3D View (Panel)
----------------

The 3D View Panel displays the room geometry and sources which make up a loudspeaker system design.
Left-clicking and dragging in the 3D View will orbit the view around the centre of the screen. Right-clicking and dragging will move the model in the view. Scrolling in or out will zoom in or out. Depending on the chosen :ref:`Application Settings<prefs>`, the Pan Marker is shown to illustrate the point about which the camera is moving. **The Grid**
    The grid is shown by default, and is as a reference for the user, indicating 'zero' on the Z-Axis (usually the floor). It has no influence on drawing, calculations or mapping as it is simply a visual aid.
    It can be shown or hidden from the toolbar, under **Layers** → *Grid*.

**Axis**
    The axis are displayed in the 3D View as red, green and blue lines. As with the grid, these are simply visual aids. These lines are thicker in the positive direction of each axis.

    Red is the X-Axis. Moving items in a negative sense on the X axis will move them ‘Stage Left’ in real life. Moving items in a positive sense on the X axis will move them ‘Stage Right’ in real life.

    Green is the Y-Axis. Moving items in a negative sense on the Y axis will move them ‘Upstage’ in real life. Moving items in a positive sense on the Y axis will move them ‘Downstage’ in real life.

    Blue is the Z-Axis. Moving items in a negative sense on the Z axis will lower them in real life. Moving items in a positive sense on the Z axis will raise them in real life.

    The origin of the 3D View is the point at which the three axis cross. This is X = 0, Y = 0, Z = 0. Typically when :ref:`drawing a venue<drawing>`, one would describe the room using the downstage edge as the origin, however it is helpful to use the centre of rooms which are symmetrical about two or more axis as the origin in order to use :ref:`layer mirroring<mirror>` to aid in drawing room geometry efficiently.

**The Toolbar**
    A toolbar across the top of the canvas gives quick access to the view:

    * **Top / Side / End / Iso** - jump straight to a standard view of the venue. Clicking the already-active button cycles it: Side and End flip to the opposite side, while Top and Iso rotate by 90 degrees per click.
    * **Wide / Narrow / Parallel** - choose the projection: a wide or narrow perspective, or parallel projection for distortion-free elevations and plan views.
    * **Layers** - show or hide the Grid, Axes, Speakers, Scenery and Horizon. *Transparent Rear* makes surfaces see-through from behind, and sliders set the *Scenery transparency* and the :ref:`Aim disc<aimdiscs>` *size*.
    * **Cutting Planes** - slice the venue along the X, Y or Z axis: switch on the − or + side of each axis and press *Edit* to position the plane directly in the view. When planes are active, pressing the button again switches them all off. Active cutting planes also re-scope the :ref:`Coverage<coveragestats>` statistics.
    * **Feather** - fades the SPL heat map where it falls outside the loudspeakers' coverage, making the covered area obvious at a glance. It is on by default, and available whenever the heat map is on.

**SPL Scale**
    :ref:`Pressure Mapping<SPLrendering>` can be enabled with the SPL switch in the 3D View panel's header. While it is on, dropdowns for the stimulus, band and weighting appear beside it. The scale of the mapping is displayed in the bottom-right, and its defaults can be adjusted via the :ref:`Application Settings<rendering>`.
    The legend is interactive: **double-click** it to lock (pin) the top of the colour scale so it stops following the data peak - double-click again to release. **Right-click** it to type an exact top level.

**The Inspect Tool**

    Click the ⓘ button at the bottom-left of the 3D View to turn on click-to-measure readouts anywhere in the venue.


    * Choose 1, 2 or 3 measurement points, then click in the venue to read the position and broadband SPL (Z, A and C weighted) at each point.
    * 2 Measurement Point mode allows you to measure distances, SPL and time of flight between two points (surfaces, or loudspeakers).
    * 3 Measurement Point mode allows you to set a reference, and measure the relative timing between two points (two loudspeakers, for instance).

    Clicks snap to the SPL map grid, :ref:`aim discs<aimdiscs>` and loudspeakers, and each pick is marked in the scene with a colour matching the readout panel. Use the ✕ button in the panel's header to clear the picks.

**Finding Layers**
    Click a :ref:`layer<usinglayers>` in the 3D View to find it in the :ref:`Layer Manager<layermanager>` - its groups expand and the row scrolls into view. Double-click a layer to open its editor.

As with all :ref:`Panels<panels>`, the 3D View can be resized and moved using :ref:`Panel Drag & Drop<paneldrag>`, and 'popped out' into an :ref:`additional System Optimiser window<discreet System Optimiser Windows>`. The location of this Panel will be saved as part of the current :ref:`tab<View Modes>`.
